Picture perfect weather and a course in great condition contributed to a terrific club championship
venue. Earl Hale ran away from most in the field shooting a net 62 on day one and following it up with a net 65 on day two.
Day Sutter was close behind with scores of 68 and 70, respectively, taking Runner-Up. Other notable scores were John
Abate with a total net of 143 and Will Hoppner and Pat Harlow with net totals of 145. The competition was great
and the course challenging as always. We saw some terrific play and some unusual happenings. On the par 4 fourth hole,
Loree McQueen's third shot came up a bit short stopping about two yards off the green. As she prepared to chip on,
Will asked her if she wanted the golf balls already on the green marked. John Abate, whose ball was about a foot from the pin, said
"Just bounce it off mine and into the hole." Loree stepped up and made her shot. It sped across the green and sure enough, hit John's
ball and deflected right into the hole. What an amazing way to make par! As if that weren't enough, on the next par three, Loree's
tee shot headed directly for the pin. As her playing partners watched in amazement, the ball rolled directly over the hole and
almost dropped in. It stopped a mere two feet, eleven inches beyond the pin where she tapped in for a birdie. She won
Closest To The Pin on that hole both days. Other Closest To The Pin winners were Ruben Tamez, Ted Hammam and Joan Ross for day one,
and Jesse Tamez and John Abate with two on day two. Men's Long Drive went to Chris Tamez on day one and Mike Beesley on day two.
Loree also won Ladies' Long Drive on day two. Long putt went to Ruben on day one and Bud Adler on day two. Bud also won Fewest Putts
on day one while John won it on day two. All in all, it was a great outing and everyone played well.
Congratulations to all who played and enjoyed the challenge.
