Despite the cold weather, Jesse Tamez put together an outstanding round to win this year's
Holiday Challenge. The next closest were John Legois with a net 69 and John
Abate with a net 70. Jesse's round was aided by his solid putting as he also won
fewest putts with only 29 on some very tricky greens. Will Hoppner and Amedeo Cappione took two
closest to the pins each and nobody at all made it on the green on hole 11. Another
oddity occurred on the first hole as Amedeo was hitting his second shot out of the rough. As he
struck his ball, it split in two and each half went in different directions. Now there's one for the books!
New member Brooks McLain took long putt honors, draining a ten-footer on the 18th green.
Long drive for the men was won by John Abate while Liz Louie won it for the women.
The course played tough and the greens were difficult at times. The Golf Gods claimed several
Whacky Balls as the Whacky Ball contest was won by Paul Bove, John Legois and Tony Cruz. Even though
they didn't return all three Whacky Balls, they netted a 72, with the other groups netting 80, 75, and 73.
Congratulations to all.
