The rescheduled December Whacky Ball Tournament finally took place at Franklin Canyon and the
tournament lived up to its name. There were plenty of whacky goings on including a hole-in-one by Joan Ross.
Team Harlow (Pat, Steven and Scott Hunter) won the tournament with a net 68, while Team Hammam shot a net 73,
Team Tamez shot a net 74 and Team Abate shot a net 77. The wet conditions made for some interesting golf, but
at least the rain stayed away. Ruben Tamez took the low net honors with a net 71 while three players were tied for
runner-up with a net 73. John Abate won the tie-breaker. Joan was also busy winning several Closest-To-The-Pins on holes
2 (her hole-in-one), 6 and 17. Playing partners Tony Cruz and John Legois won the others on holes 4 and 11, respectively.
Steven Harlow had a great putting day winning the Fewest Putts with 29. Ruben also won the Longest Putt with a 12-footer in 18.
Joan's Ace was the first ever in a WCGA tournament and her third. We watched her tee shot hit the green, but as we approached, we didn't see it anywhere. After looking around to see if it rolled off the back, we looked in the hole and there it was! Great shot, Joan! Congratulations to all.
