Even thought the turn-out was small, we had a great time again at Franklin Canyon for our
Whacky Ball competition in this year's Holiday Challenge. Loree McQueen captained the ladies'
group and played her way to not only the Whacky Ball team prize, but also the Tournament Low
Net, shooting an 80/net 66. She also won fewest putts. Her teammates were Joan Ross and Chris Jensen.
The men didn't fare quite as well although everyone managed to return all their Whacky Balls.
That might be why many had mud on their pants up to their knees - nobody wanted to loose a
Whacky Ball and many had quite the Easter Egg Hunt to ensure they retrieved them! The weather held
out well and the course played fine, despite all the rain we have been having. The Tamez family seemed to
dominate the Closest To The Pin challenges with Chris, Ruben and Jesse each winning a hole. Dan Sutter won Closest
To The Pin on hole 6. Jesse also won Longest Putt, if you can call a 2 foot 9 inch putt a long putt. As usual,
the par three 11th hole played extremely hard and nobody hit the green to win that Closest To The Pin.
All in all it was a good outing and it continues to be a favorite among those who played. If you missed
it this year, make sure you add it to your calendar for next.
